Meet Jared Carter - disgrace to UK's senior night

While we saw two great seniors walk the floor and win for U of L, us UK fans were stuck with this 7"2 fluke.

UK loses to UGA - fire "Coach"

What a joke. Fire Billy Gillispie. He is better off in Texas. He seems to better at getting DUI's than winning games in a Elite Conference.

Gillispie needs to coach at a Mid-Major Conference. Maybe there he could coach and win games. Tubby may not have taken UK to Final Fours, but at least he could win 20 plus games a season, make it to the sweet 16 and win SEC titles.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Alex Rodriguez's troublesome right hip requires immediate surgery, the third baseman's brother told LasMayores.com, MLB.com's Spanish-language Web site.
Rodriguez's brother, Joe Dunand, said that Rodriguez will have the operation performed on Monday in Vail, Colo., by Dr. Marc Philippon. Dunand said it was his understanding that the recovery time for such a surgery is 10 weeks.

The surgery would nix Rodriguez's hopes of playing for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic and possibly cause him to miss part of the regular season if Dunand is correct and Rodriguez has the procedure done.

"We're not giving any information right now," Yankees spokesman Jason Zillo said Thursday.

"I do not have that information. I have not heard that yet. I have to talk to Cash," manager Joe Girardi said, referring to general manager Brian Cashman.

Rodriguez left the Dominican Republic team on Wednesday to fly to Colorado after the results of a MRI taken Saturday in Tampa revealed the internal cyst. A Yankees team physician, Dr. Chris Ahmad, recommended that Rodriguez undergo an examination by a specialist.

"For the entire family, this is a big blow," Dunand said. "Alex is destroyed. We were all really excited to see him play with the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic but the most important thing is the operation is successful so Alex can continue with his career."

The 33-year-old Rodriguez has managed discomfort in his right hip dating back to last season. Girardi said Wednesday that Rodriguez had expressed feeling "a little stiffness" at various times since last season.

"There wasn't really any pain -- just some mild stiffness," Girardi said. "He was doing a lot of stretching and worked on it this winter as well. We just want to make sure that we're doing the right things with this."

Rodriguez has played regularly this spring, including going 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's Dominican Republic exhibition against the Marlins. He left the Yankees on Sunday after playing in New York's Grapefruit League loss to the Reds at Sarasota, Fla.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Dodgers got their Manny, and all it took after weeks of wrangling was an early morning get-together bringing both sides to owner Frank McCourt's house.

Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers officially agreed Wednesday on a $45 million, two-year contract that keeps him with the NL West champions. The slugger can void the second season of the deal and again become a free agent.

The stalemate ended during a 6 a.m. meeting Wednesday at McCourt's Malibu home. The session came after weeks of protracted negotiations that included starts, stops, offers and subsequent rejections.

Dallas Cowboys cut Owens - No more crybaby

Terrell Owens' days in Dallas are over after all.

ESPN and Fox Sports are among several outlets reporting that the Cowboys have cut Owens, who averaged 1,196 receiving yards in three seasons with the team. The Cowboys had yet to confirm the move as of 2 a.m. ET Thursday morning.

Owens' divisive effect inside the Cowboys locker room may have prompted Owens' dismissal. In December, the Cowboys had several off-field dramas as a fissure developed between Owens and QB Tony Romo.

Owens at several points during the season publicly asked for a bigger role in the offense.

"You know what he brings as far as personality and the good and bad of it all," ESPN analyst and Hall of Famer Steve Young said on the network Wednesday night. "The Cowboys seemed to have found a dance step to at least survive it.

"It's still semi-surprising that they'd actually pull the trigger."

Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones had been non-committal on Owens' future until this point in the offseason. Asked last week if it was his intention to keep Owens, Jones told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, "You got my drift. And that's all I want to say about that."

The Dallas Morning News, which also reported Owens' dismissal, said the team will take a $9 million salary cap hit. Owens signed a three-year contract extension last summer.

Owens' dismissal puts two of the top six all-time leaders in receptions, with Marvin Harrison, on the market this offseason. Owens' 951 receptions rank sixth and Harrison's 1,102 are second.

Harrison was cut by the Colts last month.

Where Owens will play next is uncertain, but Young said it would have to be a confident, mature team that could handle his temperamental personality.

Said fellow ESPN analyst and former Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson, "He probably has 3-4 years left in him."
